Madonna's Rebel Heart Tour Wrap Up
Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour Wrap Up
In March 2016 in a historic return, Live Nation brought Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour to Australia for the first time in 23 years, and to New Zealand for the first time, with a theatrical extravaganza that dazzled and mesmerised her fans.
With the wrap of Madonna’s Rebel Heart World Tour in Sydney on March 20, following two shows in New Zealand, Brisbane as well as Melbourne, Madonna’s Tour had performed to over 1m people across 82 shows and grossing $169.8 million. Her Rebel Heart World Tour only further cemented her status as the number one female pop artist in the world.
Audiences were treated to a four-part show that featured Madonna performing new songs from her Rebel Heart album as well a range of her best loved classics. Her shows featured highly choreographed routines and a Cirque de Soliel performance that showcased why she is still the ultimate performer after over three decades in the music business.
In addition to her Australian tour, Madonna also performed a one-off show at The Forum in Melbourne as a special thank you to her Australian fans who had waited patiently for 23 years to see her perform. Her show, entitled Tears Of Clown, was viewed by 1,300 lucky fans who got the chance to see Madonna up close and personal in a cabaret style show that mixed comedy with pop music. For this particular show, you could not purchase a ticket, so those lucky enough to attend were part of a true money-can’t-buy experience.
We would also like to thank our Live Nation partners for their support and contribution to the tour.
A special thank you to Telstra, who through their Telstra Thanks program were the presenting partner of Madonna’s Australian tour. Telstra customers were lucky enough to win a behind the scenes view of Madonna’s stage in both Sydney and Melbourne. Telstra customers also had the chance to win tickets to Madonna’s Tears Of A Clown show.
NSW Health’s Play Safe program was in force at Allphones Arena Sydney on 19 March promoting a positive sexual health message to ticket holders. Their activation was held in the Grand Foyer and generated a lot of buzz with ticket holders having the chance to win merchandise as well as being interviewed on their sexual knowledge.
We look forward to bringing updates on new and exciting Live Nation tours as they develop.
